You’ve spent hundreds of hours writing and editing your book. Now you’re taking that newborn out into the world. And let me tell you, there are a lot of newborns out there. Who is going to connect with your story and why? Deborah Riley-Magnus has written the definitive book on how to market your book. I personally sweated over her 25 word pitch for about an hour until I got it right. Marketing your book can be overwhelming. Ms. Riley-Magnus walks you through the process. Finding Author Success will give your story a fighting chance in the exciting but challenging and changing world of publishing. |

| This book addresses an almost visceral need for authors - namely how to pilot their way through the marketing minefield which has to be navigated to make an author's book a success. I've already completely rebuilt my author platform web site thanks to the advice from this book, and have seen sales spike a little, hopefully as a result. My book platform sites are next. I'm still learning on the social networking side, especially twitter, but this book gave a great lead on the how and why. A must read for authors and would be authors alike. |

By the time you’re done reading this review, something about the publishing landscape will have probably changed. Who doesn’t need a hand in navigating the crazy world of publishing? Authors, whether traditionally or independently published, play a key role in determining their own success in an ever-evolving market. As author Riley-Magnus tells us, more than enough times, she’s heard authors voice the same concern: “But ... but ... I’m a writer, not a salesperson!”
Having the talent to write a good, marketable book is simply not enough. Today, an author must know how to promote and sell it. An author must have a plan and know how to stay on top of the marketplace.
In a clear, no-nonsense, comprehensive, and simple manner, Riley-Magnus “sits down” with authors and conducts a one-on-one class on how to market your book. And, like any good teacher, she gives assignments to help her students learn. From understanding book platforms vs. author platforms, social networking, the three Ps (promotion, publicity, procrastination), cross promoting, author do’s and don’ts and so much more, Finding Author Success is a virtual cornucopia of information for the author or author-to-be.
The book is exceptionally well organized, and the information is easy to locate and understand. It’s written for authors with a very small budget or no budget at all. Riley-Magnus offers a wealth of knowledge and experience that each author can tailor to suit his/her own needs.
I believe authors will especially appreciate the TEN TOOLS FOR AUTHOR SUCCESS: A QUICK REFERENCE HANDBOOK at the end of the book — most useful indeed.
A highly recommended read. If you have or will have a book to promote and are confused about how to go about it, you are likely to breathe a huge sign of relief after reading Finding Author Success. |
